Guess what?! I got a hair cut! After years of growing my hair out, I did it, I cut my hair from the middle of my back to above my shoulder, crazy, right? But that is NOT the exciting news, although it is pretty exciting ;)
This has been an exciting time and the last two years working every day to help get Republicans elected in the White House, in Congress and in local State governments, we did it! It feels good to even have had a small part in affecting change. I know some of you reading this are not happy at all about the election and some are probably even afraid due to some of Trumps off the cuff remarks over the last two years, combined with media hype. Bottom line: God is still God and nothing happens that he doesn't allow for reasons that we often cannot fathom. But I do trust God, even when it is hard and I encourage you to as well. My verse of the day today, speaks to this well: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." -Ephesians 3:20-21
Drum roll please... (if you are rolling your eyes, I know, cheesy) ...
After 3 years working with Conservative politics in Washington DC I have decided to make a change. At the beginning of October I began talking to the USA Today Network/Gannett about an Executive Assistant job in their corporate offices in the DC Metro area. At first it was just curiosity that made me respond, then as the interview process continued and the election process just got crazier, I became more and more interested in the position and more and more exhausted by the politics surrounding me. So on Monday, November 14th I was offered a position with the USA Today Network and I accepted.
It has been a decision I have been very conflicted about as the American Conservative Union and the mission here is very dear to my heart and the people I work with on a daily basis have become more than co-workers, they have become like family. But after a week of praying, thinking, getting advice from people I trust and more praying, I decided that this is the right decision for me.
I am super excited to embark on this new chapter in DC! The people on my new team seem great and I am looking forward to jumping in with both feet and making new friends and new memories. This will also be a chapter for me of working to create more of a work/life balance, including getting more involved in my church, in service, bible study, and hopefully even to start going on missions trips again.
I won't make this a long post, I know a lot of you have been asking me for a new blog post for ages and now maybe I will be able to be more consistent in blogging (maybe). Thank you for reading and I love you all! (well, maybe not all of you, this is a public forum so I can't guarantee who is reading it, and I haven't done any weeding out of my email contacts in a long time, but I am sure I love most of you! lol).
And now I will end with a mirror selfie, because, why not! I really am excited about my new haircut! ;)

DeleteI wouldn't say they are a liberal paper, I am sure they are official non-partisan and I am pretty sure my new boss is a conservative...
